Deposits & payments
Take deposits at booking and charge no-shows to the card on file
Each service gets a payment rule: pay in full, pay a deposit, or pay after the visit. Money goes through your own Stripe account at Stripe's standard rate, and Stability adds no fee on top.
Deposits & payments
How you get paid
- 01
Three payment rules per service
Pay now, a deposit, or pay after the service. A deposit can be a fixed amount or a percentage of the final price, with add-ons and staff pricing included.
- 02
A cancellation policy clients agree to
Choose no cancellations, 24 hours notice or 48 hours notice. Clients accept it before they book. When someone cancels late, your setting decides whether the deposit is kept or refunded.
- 03
No-show fees on a saved card
Turn on no-show protection and clients save a card when they book. If they don't come, charge a flat or percentage fee from the booking. Bookings nobody closed out are marked as no-shows two hours after they end.
- 04
Tips at checkout
When clients pay, they can add no tip, $5, $10, $15 or their own amount. Tips are tracked apart from the service price.
- 05
Payment links for whatever is left
Email a pay link or copy it into a text. Clients pay the balance from the link or from their account, and you can take a card in person from the booking.
- 06
Cash, plus two methods you name
Cash can always be recorded. If you also take something like Zelle or Cash App, add up to two methods with your handle and instructions. They appear at checkout only once you turn them on.
One ledger for every payment
Card payments, deposits, tips, refunds and anything recorded outside Stripe land in the same list, with Stripe's own fee shown next to each charge. Export it to CSV for your bookkeeper.

Details worth knowing

- Full or partial refunds from the booking.
- Sales tax through Stripe Tax, if you turn it on in your Stripe account.
- Unpaid online bookings let go of the time after 30 minutes.
- A makeup credit can be given instead of a no-show fee, for tutors and trainers who prefer it.
Common questions
Questions about deposits & payments
Does Stability take a percentage of my payments?
No. There is no platform fee on any payment. You pay your monthly plan and Stripe's processing rate, nothing else.
Can I require a card without charging it?
Yes. With no-show protection on, clients save a card when they book. Nothing is charged unless you charge a no-show fee.
Do I need a Stripe account?
For card payments, yes. Connect a new or existing Stripe account from the dashboard in a few minutes. Without one you can still take bookings and record cash.
Can I sell gift cards, packages and memberships?
Yes, on both plans. Clients buy them from your booking page and use them when they book. See classes and memberships for the details.
